At the Coastal Eco Centre in Skegness we have converted the former landfill site into a resource for the local community and to demonstrate and showcase how horticulture, conservation, recycling, re-use, sustainability and many other issues can be applied in everyday life.

The Skegness Coastal Eco Centre have developed meadow, woodlands, boundary habitats, wetlands and garden areas  to allow people to become involved in all aspects of healthy living, and offer outdoor healthy cookery, bushcraft and many other traditional skills and courses (in total we offer over 50 different learning and developmental opportunities)  We offer a range of Volunteering options to allow people to become more actively involved in their local community and be involved in community support projects. Every activity is designed in a bespoke way to respond to the needs of the local community, groups or individuals and we have a totally client-centred approach to our activities.

Our youngest person who takes part is 18 months old and our oldest is 71, and we have clients with a full range of abilities from being fully able-bodied to those with severe learning and physical disabilities. Our activities are available to individuals and groups suffering learning differences and are suitable from babies upwards. We aim to reduce barriers to participation by offering bespoke activities suited to the needs and offer opportunities in Arts & crafts, Horticulture, Team Building, Confidence building,

We also offer local people the chance to get outdoors to reconnect with gardening and nature in a fun and engaging way. This is done by offering many opportunities to spend time with their families, undertake healthy outdoor activities, grow your own sessions, undertake training and learning, complete therapeutic activities, volunteer in their community, take part in preparation for employment skills and many more. We try to break down any barriers to taking part and target the most hard to reach groups in society by offering opportunities to people of all ages and from all backgrounds.

Educational & Vocational skills, camping and other exciting outdoor activities. Enjoyment, enrichment and educational activities are offered to families and those wanting breaks and overnight camping, parties or celebration events.

If users would like a series of activities developing to meet their needs we will work closely with them to offer opportunities in a personalised way to enable them to participate fully in a range of activities normally only available to the more able-bodied.We work with many schools through our ‘School in the Woods’ programme to offer visits to the Eco (Educating Communities Outdoors’) Centre to undertake gardening projects and cover areas of the National curriculum. We also visit schools in the Skegness area to teach horticulture and environmental issues within the school, we offer an advice service to schools and their pupils to ‘green’ their school grounds, and offer after school Gardening and Earth Clubs to widen participation and create ‘Farmer’s Markets’ for the children and school. We offer camping and outdoor healthy activities to many Scout, Beaver, Brownie and Cub groups from all over Lincolnshire.
